Kasa Japanese Grill Sushi Bar To Go Available Kasa, designed by renowned architect, Edward Suzuki, features a ceiling made entirely of white Japanese umbrellas, gleaming marble tables and white bamboo climbing the walls behind a lighted bar. The menu offers a mixture of skewered meats cooked over a rare charcoal grill (a Binchotan) used to enhance the true flavor of the meat. Also, sushi lovers can delight in impressive creations made nightly in the restaurant's sushi bar. Owners Mimi and Kim, trained by Japanese Master Chef Kumagai, create traditional marinades and sauces with the hope that Kasa will bring diners closer to the true taste of Japan."Kasa" in Japanese means Umbrellas."The Japanese umbrellas in "Kasa" were used to envelope the space and hopefully to evoke an air of Japan in Boulder. The design is basically that of an "installation," a gesture very often used in Japanese settings of various occasions, as that of a tea ceremony in the outdoors where a special place is instantly created by use of a red carpet (in place of the traditional "tatami," or straw mat ) along with a special "Nodate Kasa."I sincerely hope that customers in "Kasa" would "feel at home in Japan" without ever leaving Boulder.
